The Service is provided by SiteRefiner ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, if you are acting for a business, that business.
1. The Service
SiteRefiner runs automated technical, performance and search checks against websites you add, reads data from Google services you connect, explains the results in plain language, and can generate and publish written content from them. The features available to you depend on your plan. We may improve or change features over time; we will not remove a feature you are paying for without reasonable notice.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate details and keep them current.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account and for the people you invite. Keep your password safe and enable two-factor authentication or a passkey.
- One person or business may not hold more than one free trial.
- You must be 18 or over.
3. Trials, plans and payment
- New accounts start with a free trial of the plan chosen at sign-up, currently 14 days. No card is required and nothing is charged automatically.
- When the trial ends, scheduled checks pause and your data is kept. To continue, upgrade from the billing page in the application or email us.
- Plan limits (the number of websites and users, and the features included) are described on the pricing page and are enforced in the application.
- Prices are in US dollars, or in pounds sterling in the UK and euros in the EU, and exclude VAT and sales tax unless stated. A subscription is charged in the currency it started in. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing period.
4. Your websites and your data
- You may only add websites you own or are authorised to audit and, for content generation, authorised to publish to. You are responsible for that authorisation.
- You keep all rights to your data and to the websites you add. You grant us a licence to process that data only to provide the Service to you.
- Where you connect Google Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager or Google Ads, or share a property with our service account, you confirm you are entitled to grant that access. Our use of Google data is described in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for reviewing generated content before it is published and for its accuracy and lawfulness once published.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use the Service to:
- crawl, probe, load-test or attack websites you are not authorised to audit;
- circumvent access controls, bot protection or rate limits on any website;
- upload malware or attempt to access other customers' data or our systems;
- generate or publish content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, deceptive or harmful;
- resell the Service as your own product without a written agreement with us (using it to deliver services to your own clients is fine);
- interfere with the Service's operation or exceed reasonable use in a way that degrades it for others.
We may suspend accounts that breach these rules, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
6. Automated crawling
Our checks visit the websites you add with a real browser, following robots.txt where it applies to us, at a rate designed not to disrupt the site. Some hosts block automated browsers; when that happens a check may fail or be incomplete, which is not a defect in the Service.
7. Third-party services
The Service depends on Google's APIs (PageSpeed Insights, Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager and Ads) and on an AI model provider for narratives and content. Their availability, quotas and terms are outside our control. Where a third party limits or withdraws access, the affected feature may be unavailable.
8. AI-generated output
Narratives, recommendations, scores and generated content are produced by automated systems from the data available to them. They are guidance, not professional advice. They may contain errors or omissions. You must review them before acting on them or publishing them. We do not warrant that generated content is original, accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, design and documentation belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or create derivative works from the Service. The SiteRefiner name and mark may not be used without our permission except to say truthfully that you use the Service.
Reports, exports and generated content produced for your account are yours to use.
10. Availability and support
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take the Service down for maintenance, with notice where practical. Support is by email at [email protected] during UK business hours. Enterprise agreements may specify different terms.
11. Data protection
We process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Where you use the Service to process personal data of others (for example, data about visitors to your clients' websites), you are the controller of that data and we are your processor. Our processing instructions, sub-processors and retention periods are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms the data processing terms between us until a separate data processing agreement is signed.
12. Termination
- You may delete your login at any time from the application, or ask us to close your account. This deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these terms, non-payment, or if we discontinue the Service, with reasonable notice where practical.
- Sections 8, 9, 13 and 14 survive termination.
13. Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, or for loss caused by content you publish, by websites you add, or by third-party services.
- Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or £100 if you paid nothing.
- The Service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will find every issue on a website, that check results are complete, or that following its recommendations will improve rankings, traffic or revenue.
14. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable the rest still applies.
- We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and email account owners about material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept them.
- These terms, the Privacy Policy and any enterprise agreement are the whole agreement between us.
